I’ve made it – Tom

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You,
It’s all about You, Jesus
I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about You,
It’s all about You, Jesus

I’m pretty certain a number of us are all too familiar with the chorus of Michael W. Smith’s Heart of Worship. It’s one of those songs that would always play on Sunday Morning as you woke up to go to church… and yet personally I had never really understood the words that came in at that part where they sang “I’ve made it”… it seemed it was always fuzzy, and perhaps you could have easily blamed it on the hugely popular radio cassettes of the time! But the truth is I just didn’t quite expect those words… “I’m sorry Lord, for the thing I’ve made it

Looking back at those lyrics now opens my eyes to the depth that lay in that so simply yet elegantly arranged stanza. It’s the depth of a truth that constantly reminds us that this is all about God, and in no way about us. And yet so many times it’s when we have come into a place that we feel measures up to what we believe is our fulfillment, that we are quick to compliment ourselves – “I’ve made it!”

2 Corinthians 3:5 clearly shows how derailed a thought process this is when it says “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God” So just because I went over all those hurdles doesn’t mean I could or did jump that high. It’s simply a testimony of God working through me – and I pray that I will be completely selfless to give Him ALL the glory, coz it’s all about Him.

Entropy Thoughts – Joel

I’ve been learning about entropy, the 2nd law of thermodynamics, which really is a universal law of nature, that basically says that organization and ordered systems move continually towards a state of disorder or death. It works for everything.. it is essentially, the fruit of a sinful world so to speak. Almost as if God said, when you eat from the fruit, entropy will surely occur….

Anyways, we were learning about negative entropy, when organizations or systems take in more inputs than necessary in order to offset entropy.. in simple words, like you eating in order to avoid dying (Also funny enough, the reason we naturally like fatty foods is fat is stored as energy in our bodies for lean periods) and we achieve negative entropy by changing to suit the new levels or energy needed for the changing environment. All this jargon just reminded me that the Blood of Jesus is the most powerful thing on earth, for it totally reverses entropy, it allows order from chaos, it gives life when there is none… and I see myself now on the path to negative entropy, perfectly negative entropy as I walk with the LORD… Anyway, it just amazed me how science and physics so reminded me of the awesomeness of God… Oh, and I’ll need this energy for my guitar practice.. those scales are just going to lead to my causing entropy on the guitar…

The Humble Master

He had equal status with God
But didn’t think so much of himself
That he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what
Not at all
When the time came
He set aside the privileges of deity
And took on the status of a slave
He became human

Having become Human, He stayed human
It was an incredibly humbling process
He didn’t claim any special privileges
Instead, He lived a selfless obedient life
And he suffered a selfless obedient death
And the worst death at that
A crucifixion

Because of that obedience God lifted Him high
And honored him far above anyone or anything ever
So all created beings in the heavens or the earth
Even those long ago dead and buried
Would bow in worship before this Jesus Christ
And cry out in praise that He is the master of all
To the glorious honor of God the father

This is our God
